FAQs about Coir Plant Pots

Are coir plant pots suitable for all types of plants?
Yes they are.  You can use them for larger seeds and also potting up of seedlings.  They are especially useful for perennial plants that need a longer growing period as they take much longer to breakdown than paper based pots.  They are also very suitable for houseplants as they look really attractive on their own.

Can coir plant pots be re-used?
They most definitely can!  Unlike pots made from paper, coir pots can be re-used several times.  Simply peel off the pot and refill, its that easy.  Even when the pots start to break down and look a little scruffy, they are still good enough to use for growing on plants.

What about at the end of their lifespan?
The biodegradable plant pots can be planted in the ground along with the plant it contains where it will gradually disappear.  You can also put them in the compost bin.  One further use is that you can rip them up and use the coir fibre to patch up your hanging basket liners to make them last longer, which is something we have done several times!
